The collaboration in the economic sphere
Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili met with the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs at the US Department of State Kurt Tong, and the sides talked over a range of issues.
In particular, the sides discussed the cooperation between Georgia and the US and the prospects for intensifying the collaboration in the economic sphere, a source at Georgia’s Presidential Administration told Trend on Oct.30.
During the meeting, Margvelashvili talked about the significance of the free trade with the US. The Charter on Strategic Partnership between the US and Georgia create opportunities for the free trade between them.
The sides also emphasized the need to increase the volume of direct US investments in Georgia’s economy.
Margvelashvili added that Georgia plays an important role in ensuring Europe’s energy security as a crucial connecting link between the Old World and Asia.
Following the meeting, Kurt Tong told reporters that the sides also discussed the strategic issues related to Georgian-Russian relations.
